  Michael Blanchard’s second book of photography and musings is titled “Through A Sober Lens: A Photographer’s Journey.” When Michael Blanchard first .   Book publishing rolled in a few more techniques—the book fairs, like the LA Book Fair and a few other “accepted” methods of promotion—but for the most part, until January , the promotion done for books by traditional publishers was the same kind of promotion done by traditional publishers 60 years ago.

P ondering the endless glut of books on the virtues of nationalism and the failures of political liberalism, I sat up late the other night, reading around (yet again) in Augustine’s City of God before dozing off in my chair. Waking suddenly—or, at least, half-awake—my mind was a jumble of names like ­Deneen, Reno, and Hazony. I rushed to get down on paper those late-night musings.   It’s very hard, Jean. I promote books and I tell authors that marketing and promoting books is an ultra-marathon rather than a sprint. I also suggest that an author set apart an hour or two of writing time, every week or two to focus on promoting a book or books. The opportunities are many, but they all require time.

Her planned menus were great and simple. She was Musings on the way book of like a pre-“The Barefoot Contessa”, without the little subplots of life in The Hamptons.
